Home Builders’ Confidence Up to Pre 2005 Levels

The outlook remains unclear. Building permits, a bellwether of future construction, fell in August after a big increase in July, but they were still up 5% from a year earlier. New Home construction is up in the North Texas area as a result of that confidence.   As detailed in this article from the Builder.

As a percentage of overall housing closings, new home closings made up 11.9%. This marks a rise from 10.7% of total closings a year earlier. Closings of new and existing homes climbed year-over-year in June after also rising in May year-over-year.
